Bangkok admittedly is not known for being the most green city. But this concrete jungle actually is dotted with many parks all over it, providing its residents with many options for places to go jogging and taking leisurely strolls in. The summer season may be too hot for many to be taking advantage of these parks, but once the temperature comes down, the parks are very much alive with people and on the weekends, activities, such as concerts and what have you. Here we list some of our favourite parks in Bangkok if you want to spend the morning or evening outside amidst nature.
Lumphini Park

The most centrally located park in the city is naturally the most popular one for joggers, and the most crowded. Lumphini park is easily accessed by Silom MRT station, Saladaeng BTS station, and Ratchdamri BTS station. One round around this park is 2.5 kilometres, with various lake views, Chinese pavilion, bridges, a recreational centre, basketball court, outdoor gym area, etc you won’t be bored with the view when you run around it. Parking can be a little difficult especially on the weekend, for those who drive, so either get there earlier than 5pm or park along the park wall when the time allows.
Benchakitti Park

A very large new section of Benchakitti park was unveiled in 2022. Before this Benchakitti park was mostly a lake in the middle with running and biking path around it that was not all that green. The new section, named Benchakitti forest park, was formerly a plot of land that belonged to a tobacco factory. This vast addition to the older park features a wetland area and elevated walkways all over, a section with rare plants, an amphitheatre, etc. The main concept of the park is to bring the forest into the city and support urban biodiversity while offering leisure activities for the people. Previously best accessed via Ratchada road or Asoke BTS station, now with the expansion the park can be entered from Duang Pitak road parallel to the Rama 4 tollway, and also Sukhumvit soi 4. Additionally there is a bridge which connects Lumphini park to Benchakitti forest park so joggers or strollers can go from one to other without crossing any roads.
Suan Rot Fai (Wachirabenchathat Park)

If you live north of Bangkok, let’s say anywhere further north than Ari, then Wachirabenchathat Park AKA Suan Rot Fai (no-one we know can remember the full name, trust us, just it say Suan Rot Fai) is your place to go to for jogging. This park is quite a fair bit larger than Lumphini park, with different curving paths that could get you slightly disoriented. The full round around the outer paths is just less than 3km. You can get here by Mo Chit BTS station, Chatuchak MRT station. Parking is not a problem at all, there is always ample parking, however, there can be quite a bit of traffic around that area on the weekend because of Chatuchak weekend market.
Benjasiri Park

Personally not our favourite for scenery or size, as it is small and contains a lot of hard surface. But Benjasiri park’s convenient location in Phromphong is a big plus point. A run around this park is approximately 1.6 km. There is a basketball court, volleyball court, children’s playground and skate park to keep players entertained. Note that there is no parking lot here, but because it is surrounded by bog malls like Emporium, EmQuartier and Emsphere you can park in any of those and walk over. Main advantage of jogging here might be that once you are done you literally have hundreds of very good eating options available right outside the park. This is very much the little green pocket of an otherwise completle chaotic urban jungle.
